In Loving Memory of Cruz Rodriguez Jr.

1945 - 2026

Cruz Rodriguez was born on August 21, 1945, in San Benito, Texas. To know Cruz was to know what family truly meant. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Family wasn’t just important to him—it was his whole world. Everything he did, every sacrifice he made, was rooted in love for those closest to him.

Cruz lived a life filled with laughter, music, and joy. He loved to sing, dance, fish, and most of all, stand proudly behind the grill. For Cruz, grilling was never just about food—it was about gathering. It was about bringing family and friends together, sharing stories, laughing loudly, and creating memories that will live on forever.

For 61 beautiful years, Cruz was blessed to share his life with his wife, his partner, his best friend, and his favorite travel companion, Manuela. Together, they explored new places, met new people, and never once met a stranger. Wherever they went, Cruz left behind warmth, kindness, and a smile.

As a father, Cruz was incredibly proud of his three sons—Rolando Rene, Ronnie Ray, and Marco Antonio. They brought purpose, joy, and energy into his life. He loved his boys unconditionally and wanted nothing more than for them to be successful, strong, and self-sufficient. His methods may not always have been conventional, but his intentions were always rooted in love and guidance.

Cruz dedicated 37 years of his life to serving the community of Las Lomitas as a bus driver and maintenance technician for the Las Lomitas School District in Menlo Park. He took great pride in his work, and the countless children whose lives he touched over the years stand as a testament to his commitment and care.

When Cruz wasn’t working, you could probably find him enjoying a cold beer with family and friends—because let’s be honest, Cruz loved his beer. He had a heart of gold, a strong will, and a stubborn streak he wore proudly. He stood his ground, believed deeply in his values, and passed that same determination on to those he loved.

Cruz’s love for his family was unwavering, and we are all better for having had him in our lives. Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy lives on through the memories we cherish, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

As we say goodbye, we ask for your continued prayers and support during this difficult time. Thank you to everyone who has come today to celebrate Cruz’s life. Your presence is a testament to the impact he made on his family and his many friends. We are deeply grateful for your love, support, and condolences.

We will always remember Cruz with love, laughter, and gratitude.

Rest in peace, Cruz. You will be deeply missed
