Nanette Berman Fagan of Haltom City, age 76 passed away after a long battle with a progressive genetic muscle disease. She had a difficult life, but she was resilient and did the best she could with the life she was given. 

Nanette is survived by her daughter, Lisa Beck; son-in-law, Paul Beck; grandsons, Jordan and Josh Beck; niece, Lindsay Arthur; and nephew, Lewis Ellis. She was preceded in death by her sister, Tina, and her parents, Millie and Louie.

Nanette was born in Philadelphia but spent much of her life in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked for a decade in a factory and later spent another decade working in food service for the Georgia school system.

Nanette overcame addiction and went on to celebrate more than 20 years in recovery-an accomplishment that spoke to her strength and determination. She moved to Texas in 2011 to reconnect with her daughter and later worked in retail, spending more than a decade at Walgreens before her progressive illness eventually made working impossible.

Even as her illness took more and more from her, Nanette maintained her sunny disposition and had a way of putting a smile of the faces of the people around her. She loved people and dogs, and she found joy in simple things even during the tremendous pain and challenges of her final years. She loved word searches, television shows, conversation, and making others laugh.

Nanette will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
