Rafael "Ray" Soto Jr.
September 1, 1949 - October 20, 2026
Rafael "Ray" Soto Jr., 77, passed away on October 20, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength.
Born on September 1, 1949, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ray proudly served his country for 16 years in the United States Air Force.
Ray was a quiet, gentle, and easygoing man with an adventurous spirit. He loved to travel, explore new places, and experience all that life had to offer. Always willing to go somewhere new, Ray found joy in the journey and the memories made along the way. His curiosity and willingness to embrace new experiences were among the many qualities that made him so special.
Ray had a special place in his heart for children. His gentle nature and kind spirit made him someone children naturally gravitated toward. He loved being around them, and they loved him just as much. His warmth and quiet affection left lasting impressions on the young lives he touched.
Above all, Ray was a devoted husband and family man. The greatest love of his life was his beloved wife, Nereida, whom he affectionately called "his bride." Those two simple words spoke volumes about the love they shared. When Nereida passed away on August 18, 2024, a piece of Ray's heart went with her. Life was never quite the same for him without his bride by his side. Their enduring love will forever remain a cherished part of his story.
Ray is survived by his loving children, Lisa Soto, Marc Soto, and David Soto; his daughter-in-law, Amanda Soto; and his son-in-law, Rodney Thompson. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kenadee Mueller, Mitch Mueller, and Baylie Soto; and his great-grandson, Lincoln Mueller.
He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Huwer, and his brothers, Bobby Soto and Billy Soto.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nereida Soto, and his parents, Rafael Soto and Matilde Soto.
Ray will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quiet strength, his love of adventure, and the kindness he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
While his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in the thought of Ray reunited with his beloved bride. After a lifetime of adventures, perhaps they are together once again, hand in hand, ready to discover somewhere new.
Together again, on their next great adventure.
