Born on June 26, 1927, in Utica, Mississippi, Harmon Lamar Moody was the beloved eldest child of Robert and Lenie Irene Moody, and the proud older brother of 11 siblings. He lived a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished moments until he peacefully departed on October 6, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of his family.
During his youth, Harmon answered the call of duty, proudly serving in the United States Navy during World War II. His commitment to his country was a testament to his bravery and unwavering spirit.
Harmon married the love of his life, Wyonell Fletcher Moody, and their enduring love story spanned an impressive 55 years. Together, they built a family rooted in love and faith.
Harmon found solace and contentment in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed sitting outside, taking leisurely walks, and basking in the beauty of nature. His deep faith brought him comfort and joy, and he was a devoted member of his local church.
One of Harmon's most treasured routines was attending roll call every month, a tradition that kept him connected to friends and comrades from his Navy days, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Harmon's legacy is one of love, honor, and a life well-lived. He leaves behind a family and community who will forever cherish the memories they shared with this remarkable man. His kindness, love, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Harmon Lamar Moody will be remembered with love and gratitude, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.
He has been reunited with his wife, Wyonell Fletcher Moody; parents; son, Kevin Moody; and siblings, Olivia, Louise, Lynnie Mae, Belle, Robert, Gene, Tom, Charlie, and Josie, in God's Eternal Kingdom.
Harmon will be deeply and lovingly missed by his daughters, Darlene Wheeler and husband, Melvin, Arlene West, Diane Bowman and husband, Mike, and Grace Prazak and husband, Bruce; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and ahost of loving friends.
Rest in peace, dear Harmon. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be rendered at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
