James Lee Mosley
1937 - 2022
James L. Mosley was born May 27, 1937 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the union of Jim Mosley and Veulah Mosley Thompson. He was the oldest son of three boys.
James moved to Chicago at an early age. He graduated from Phillips High School where his athletic abilities were shown in his tumbling and track performances. After, James attended College in Indiana where he obtained his degree in Business. During the 1970s, James completed his real estate license and opened J.L. Mosley Realty Co.
In the 80s, he worked for the City of Chicago's Department of Human Services where he later retired from in 1997. James was active in his community and served as a Precinct Captain in Chicago’s 34th ward.
On December 17, 1960, James married Doris Winn Mosley and to this union, two children were born. He shared a daughter with his longtime companion, Tina Thompson. In the late 90's he married Joan Palmore and gained two sons in love.
James has been reunited with his parents, and younger brothers, Frankie and Earnest of Chicago, in God's Eternal Kingdom.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother; one sister; loving children, Carol Mosley Wilson (Joe), Kevin Mosley, and Francesca Mosley all residing in Texas, Alfred “TuTu” Williams of Florida and Malcom Lampley (Tanisha) of Chicago; three granddaughters; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren with one one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Roberts-Martinez Funeral Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 PM.
