James Edward Rogers, born on November 26, 1946, in Poteet, Texas, to the late Ben Frank and Annie Mae Rogers, passed away on April 2, 2024.
James, affectionately known as Jimmy, lived a life fueled by passion and purpose. His love for building and racing cars ignited a flame within him that burned brightly at the Kennedale Race Track. Among his prized possessions was his meticulously crafted 1948 Ford Anglia English racecar, a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication to the sport. However, it was his cherished white 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 door coupe that held a special place in his heart, embodying his love for classic cars.
Jimmy's journey began at Texas Railroad and Company, where he embarked on a career as a teenager alongside several of his brothers, illustrating his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his loved ones. At the age of 19, he embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship, marrying his first wife, with whom he shared the joys of parenthood and homeownership. Together, they raised three children, creating memories that would be cherished through the ages.
Jimmy was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, but his true love was found in the laughter and times shared with his grandchildren. Their presence brought him immeasurable joy, and he treasured every moment spent in their company, creating bonds that transcended time.
James Edward Rogers leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him, his memory a cherished treasure that will forever reside in the hearts of his family and friends.
He has been reunited with his parents; sisters, Jeanette Sons, Doris Sons, and Paula Florida; and brother, Coy Rogers.
Jimmy will be deeply and lovingly missed by his children, Nancy Ann Smalls, Melissa Boyer, and Jamie Lee Rogers; four grandchildren, Brittany Quinn, Cody Rogers, Zoe Rogers, and Micah Rogers; great-grandchild, Louise Quinn; his best friend, Lady; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Roberts-Martinez Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
